The new ‘Preppy’ style: get the look

New prep. “Preppy” isn’t just a about prep-school students, it’s an entire lifestyle based on and inspired by the social classes that were nurtured under the East Coast hi-so ethos.

Whether you’re from an East Coast prep school or not, the preppy look is for anyone that’s serious about looking stylish without being superficial, and wants to stand out from the hipster crowd with a classic, clean-cut, fun, but conservative, look. Fashion brands such as Boss and Lanvin, as well as quintessential prep brand Tommy Hilfiger are on trend this season.

Back in the 1980s, best-selling author Lisa Birnbach published her now-iconic The Official Preppy Handbook. Thirty years later, Lisa and designer friend, Chip Kidd, have come out with a sequel, The True Prep, which has given modern-day men new ways to be preppy.

While you may not choose to wear all these exact items at the same time, in fact, that that would be difficult to pull off successfully. Consider these ideas for a “new prep” look by mixing and matching from this season’s collections from the likes of Ted BakerRay-Ban,  Lanvin,  (X) S.M.L.Massimo DuttiTommy Hilfiger and Boss Orange.
