Top six must-have watches for May 2023

After this year’s biggest reveals at Watches and Wonders Geneva 2023, we’ve selected our first round-up of six must-have timepieces for this month…

Cartier Tank Française

The latest model from the iconic Cartier’s Tank Française takes a fresh, ergonomically and aesthetically pleasing approach, energizing the watch’s ultra-profiled lines. Originally introduced in 1996 and featuring a metal bracelet that blended perfectly with the case, the new version from the Maison is now available in steel and yellow gold, with or without diamonds. All in all, inspired by the classic square forms of traditional French architecture, the watch has a classic and elegant appearance, making it the ideal watch for any event and a definite classic item that can be worn for many long years.

Audemars Piguet Selfwinding and Selfwinding Chronograph

Audemars Piguet recently introduced six new references of its Code 11.59 by Audemars Piguet Selfwinding and Selfwinding Chronograph in 41mm that has been created for the very first time in stainless steel. Of particular note, there are four models that come entirely in steel, while the other two combine a black ceramic case middle with a steel bezel, lugs and case back. Interestingly, these timepieces also feature a new aesthetic that emphasizes both ergonomics and legibility and introduces a brand-new embossed dial with a pattern specifically created for the collection. To make it even more special, each dial tone is paired with a matching rubber strap decorated with a textile pattern and lined with calf leather.

Breitling Chronomat Six Nations

As the name implies, the limited-edition watch series called Chronomat Six Nations from Breitling is dedicated to the unions and federations of Six Nations Rugby: England, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, France and Italy. Limited to 150 pieces per timepiece for each national team, the watch is powered with the Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01, a COSC-certified chronometer with an impressive power reserve of about 70 hours. Another highlight in this watchmaking statement would be the stainless-steel watches have all the signature Chronomat characteristics from the classic rouleaux bracelet; the triple-register dial with an integrated date at 6 o’clock, the easy-grip onion crown and the raised rider tabs at the 15-minute mark.

Longines Pilot Majetek

The Longines Pilot Majetek, in a way, offers everything admirers of iconic aviation-style desire. For instance, without abandoning the aesthetic and technical norms of the twenty-first century, this new timepiece blends a sense of adventure with a historical dimension. Then its unique character is also emphasized by the bi-directional fluted bezel set on a steel case with a cushion form, which calls to mind the 1935 model that inspired it in the first place. Powered by a COSC-certified exclusive Longines L893.6 caliber with a 72-hour power reserve, the return of the pilot’s watch is not only a proper tribute to the original but also an ideal companion for all your upcoming adventures wherever you are.

Bulgari Aluminium GMT Amerigo Vespucci

The Bvlgari Aluminium GMT Amerigo Vespucci, which—as the name suggests—pays tribute to the Italian sailing vessel named after the famous Florentine mariner and explorer. Design-wise, with a black, white and yellow gold dial, the watch echoes not only the ship’s distinctive colors but also her illustrious mission and the notion of the journey with the addition of a second-time zone indication. Limited to only 1,000 pieces, the watch perfectly encapsulates an adventurous spirit thanks to its GMT complication and combines it with a striking, dynamic aesthetic for a resolutely sleek sport-chic timepiece

H. Moser & Cie. The Pioneer

The Pioneer collection from H. Moser & Cie. enters a new dimension, now available with a new 40mm case. Particularly for the Pioneer Centre Seconds Arctic Blue, the watch boasts a dial in shades of vibrant blue and is driven with HMC 200 automatic caliber. This three-hand model is also decorated with the famous Moser double stripes on the bridges and the main plate, housing a significant engraved oscillating weight and offering a guaranteed minimum power reserve of three days. Finally, the watch can be matched with a rubber, textile, leather strap or steel bracelet, making them the perfect accessory for any occasion.
