Following the successful launch of TAG Heuer’s first Connected Watch, the Swiss watchmaker has announced a new upgraded version to the popular watch series. Almost tripling its expected first launch sales figures (over 56,000 have been sold) last year, the company now expects the second-generation Connected watches to sell about 150,000 units.
The second-generation connected watch has been dubbed the TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45. As the name implies, apart from the 45mm case, the new watch offers interchangeable options, ranging from the straps, lugs, buckle and the option to switch the digital case with one that offers a mechanical movement. That’s right, you can replace the Connected case with TAG Heuer’s COSC-certified 02-T tourbillon if you feel like going full analog. The luxury watch can also be completely tailored to suit your personal style.
Apart from its modularity, the new digital module, which was engineered in conjunction with Intel, features Google’s new Android Wear 2.0 and TAG Heuer’s Companion app. This not only gives a better user interface but also allows an even higher level of customization. A broader selection of displays also entails, some of which replicate TAG Heuer’s classical designs that can be easily applied with a single swipe of the finger. Add to that a vast color spectrum, and you can now easily customize everything on the display, from the look of the metals on the indices down to the tips of the hands. Another plus for personalizing your timepiece.
As for connectivity, there’s options for Bluetooth, NFC, WiFi and GPS. The digital module is water-resistant to a depth of up to 50 meters and comes with 4GB of storage. It is equipped with the latest-generation lithium batteries that promises 29 hours of connectivity and style.
The TAG Heuer Connected Modular 45 comes with a price tag of $1,600, while the deluxe box set will come with a hefty price tag of $17,000.
