WILD WILD WEST. The year 2013 can be said a flying year for music and fashion iconoclast Kanye West.
The regular chart-topper and news headliner has delivered two babies safely this year: his first child with reality star girlfriend Kim Kardashian, and his sixth studio album, “Yeezus” — both came out only a few days apart. Despite strong criticism, the album is undeniably a highly anticipated one. West even “collaborates” with God in one of the tracks.
West also owns a record label that houses names like John Legend and Mos Def, alongside impressive collaborators on the list: Daft Punk, Jay Z, Jamie Foxx, Katy Perry and Teriyaki Boyz. His talent caliber in the industry rises high as he ranks among the most winning-Grammy Award artists of all time – 21 awards and counting!
On the fashion lane, the name Kanye West is closely associated with Ricardo Tisci, the much-praised creative director of Givenchy — as they were once rumored to be involved in a romantic fling – and Maison Martin Margiela, a brand West really admires and often draws inspiration from.
The larger-than-life singer’s status as fashion icon though doesn’t stilt on his dapper sartorial style but rather on bold outfit gear. During one of his concerts, Kanye sported a Céline women shirt paired with his usual blings. While in an impromptu performance in Paris, he wore a crystal Margiela mask that fully covered his face.
Back in 2012, the American rapper got his hands full by establishing an atelier that carries his name. Showing a full womenswear collection for the Spring/Summer 2012 season in Paris Fashion Week, West showcased his essence of style and got his front row filled with prominent industry insiders.
