Cartier Reinvents Itself with Rotonde de Cartier Astrocalendaire

FLYING HEART. For the Watches & Wonders 2015 fair, Cartier reinvented their perpetual calendar complication in the brand new Rotonde de Cartier Astrocalendaire

At the heart of this 45mm watch is the house’s signature flying tourbillon, surrounded by Cartier’s own circular day, month and date displays. This perpetual calendar mechanism is completed with a leap year function (that takes into account the extra day for February every four years) shown on the case-back.

Shades of blue are used for bracket markers on the local date and also for the choice of enamel guilloché on the dial.

Equally eye-catching is the blue sapphire cabochon peaking out on top of the crown.
