The exciting collaboration will include the creation of artwork and an apparel collection inspired by the “Cyborg 009” franchise
Renowned Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto, popular for his avant-garde tailoring featuring Japanese aesthetics, has created an exclusive movie poster to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the “Cyborg 009” movie. Originally created by Shotaro Ishinomori, “Cyborg 009” was first published as a manga in 1964 followed by an animated film directed by Yugo Serikawa in 1966.
While a sequel and many other adaptations have been created since, the first movie has always been the franchise’s most iconic product. Besides artwork for the poster, Yamamoto has also produced an apparel collection called “Cyborg009 Call of Justice.”
The collection, quite appropriately, comprises nine items and features drawings from the series’ creator as well as the artwork for the new poster. Pre-sales of the clothing line starts on November 22 at Yohji Yamamoto in Shibuya, with a wider release at select retailers on November 30, 2016.
