The Australian singer, poet, actor, model and swimmer models the iconic Medusa design in a variety of updated silhouettes
For the spring/summer 2021 season, Versace has released three new eyewear designs, all three of them featuring the house’s iconic Medusa emblem. And as the star of the accompanying campaign for these new models, the Italian high-end fashion luxury brand has chosen Cody Simpson.
A true multi-talented personality, Cody Simpson rose to fame first as a singer in late 2009, then made his acting debut in 2014, followed by the reveal in 2019 that he was a top-tier swimmer who has qualified for the Australian Olympic trials. Last year, he also launched his first collection of poetry. All in all, Simpson is definitely the perfect choice to model Versace’s versatile eyewear designs.
“When I was contacted by Versace I was stoked, I’ve always admired Donatella [Versace] and the iconic style of Versace. When she explained the concept of the new Versace eyewear campaign to me, I knew it was going to work immaculately,” Simpson said. “I am a competitive swimmer and I had been in heavy training before traveling to Milan. The images were shot in the water, my element. I felt comfortable and at ease during the session, and the photos reflect that. I have always known Versace for its aesthetic, and I am proud to be a part of this campaign.”
