WARM TONES FOR COOL TUNES. With a new color scheme and new materials, Bang & Olufsen’s Modern Cool Collection redefines how home entertainment products can match a cool and modern home

Modern home electronics tend to follow a similar design: Sleek, streamlined forms and glossy, monochromatic colors to enhance the product’s polished look. So, it’s always refreshing to see a top tier brand go the opposite route and add a touch of color to create a new style choice. Or, in Bang & Olufsen’s case, adding a touch of warmth to create a cool collection.
Late last year, in commemoration of its 91st anniversary, Bang & Olufsen released the aptly named Cool Modern collection. Included in this lineup are some of the brand’s most popular products—sound systems, speakers and TVs—in warm brass tones. There’s a strong contemporary vibe, as well as a nod to the Art Deco movement from the ’20s, which was the decade Bang & Olufsen was founded.

Besides the new brass-toned aluminum structures, there are also two new jewel-toned fabric colors for the speakers included in the collection. The first, called Purple Heart, has the warm nuances of aged wine or dark heather; the second, Parisian Night, takes after a velvety and deep blue night sky, obviously. A more subtle material enhancement in the Cool Modern range would be the smoked oak lamellas for the speaker covers of the BeoLab 18 speaker system and the BeoVision 14 TV set. These two products also feature new stands and wall mounts in matte black which contrasts nicely with the warm-hued brass frames.
Beyond the two products mentioned above, the Cool Modern collection encompasses quite a wide selection. There’s a brass version of the BeoSound 35 wireless music system, the BeoRemote One Bluetooth and many more, including the newly released (as of March this year) BeoSound 2. Having the same price tags as their standard cousins adds another nice incentive for homeowners looking to redecorate.
Is the Cool Modern collection a good enough reason to consider investing in a new home entertainment setup? Well, visually, it makes for quite a strong argument. And beneath the shiny brass structures and luxe cloth covers, you have Bang & Olufsen’s tried-and-trusted audio/visual tech. Need we say more?
