Santoni brings its distinctly Italian approach to craftsmanship, color and contemporary elegance to Jakarta with a new boutique at Plaza Indonesia

There are some things that become more interesting with time. A beautifully made pair of shoes is one of them. For Santoni, that idea has been at the heart of the brand since Andrea Santoni founded the company in 1975 in Corridonia, in Italy’s Marche region. Five decades later, the Italian footwear specialist has arrived in Indonesia, opening its first boutique at Plaza Indonesia in Jakarta.

The new 80-square-meter space marks another step in Santoni’s international expansion, but its significance goes beyond adding another address to the brand’s global network. It offers Jakarta a closer look at an approach to luxury rooted in craftsmanship while remaining firmly contemporary.
Located on a single level, the boutique takes its cues from the design concept introduced at Santoni’s Monte Carlo location, translating the aesthetic into a setting suited to the Jakarta context. Two expansive storefront windows provide an immediate view into the space, while a bespoke display system of gray marble uprights follows their profile, creating a visual connection between the interior and the collections.

The atmosphere is deliberately warm. Soft beige tones meet pink-orange hues, with wood, marble and glass bringing texture and depth to the space. Rather than treating the boutique as a conventional retail environment, Santoni has designed it as an extension of the brand’s broader philosophy: sophisticated, tactile and attentive to detail without becoming overly formal.
That philosophy can be traced back to Santoni’s origins. The company was established with the ambition of industrializing the shoemaking process without losing the qualities of artisanal production, an idea that continues to inform its work today. Its artisans remain central to the brand’s identity, with craftsmanship expressed through meticulous construction, material selection and the treatment of leather.

Color, too, has become part of Santoni’s visual language. The brand’s footwear ranges from traditional lace-ups, loafers and double-buckle styles to contemporary sneakers and lighter constructions, with distinctive finishes allowing familiar silhouettes to take on a more individual character. Its current collections continue to balance classic forms with contemporary interpretations, reinforcing the idea that Italian elegance need not mean standing still.
That balance is particularly relevant in Jakarta, where the language of luxury has become increasingly diverse. At Plaza Indonesia, Santoni’s new boutique brings together footwear, leather goods and accessories for both men and women, offering the full breadth of the brand within a setting designed to feel considered rather than imposing.

For Santoni, the opening also reflects the growing importance of Southeast Asia within its international ambitions. For Jakarta, it represents the arrival of a brand whose appeal lies not simply in the finished product, but in the craft, character and accumulated experience behind it.
Five decades after its beginnings in Marche, Santoni is still making the case that timelessness is not about remaining unchanged. Sometimes, it is about knowing exactly what is worth carrying forward.
