The venue certainly created a nostalgic and cozy atmosphere as guests mingled near the open bar, marveled at a classic Range Rover on display or huddled near a couple of outdoor heaters to watch the night creep in over the nearby pond. Things turned from intimate to festive with the arrival of the event’s main stars, including Jean-Claude Biver, head of LVMH’s watch division, followed by the first unveiling of the night: A series of artworks by French sculptor Richard Orlinski featuring a blend of Land Rover parts and huge, stylized watch cases that were unmistakably Zenith.
The second unveiling happened midway through dinner as Land Rover introduced the new Range Rover SVAutobiography Dynamic. It should be noted that this event coincided with Paris Motor Show 2016, so there were quite a few car connoisseurs and automotive journalists in the crowd and their excitement was palpable.
Then again, seeing next year’s must-have luxury SUV was a treat for just about anyone. The celebration continued, interspersed with more speeches and presentations, and even a cheese-cutting ceremony featuring a huge wheel of cheese made at Biver’s farm in the Swiss Alps, which was cut into bite-sized pieces and added to the dessert menu. And then the moment everybody has been waiting for: The third unveiling of the night, which introduced the El Primero Range Rover special edition.
