We’ve never had a lack of gangster movies or series set in the ’20s, but what about one set in Britain? “Peaky Blinders” is exactly that. Set in 1919 Birmingham, the show focuses on a street gang based on the historic Peaky Blinders. The show’s main attraction besides its stylish cinematography and fast-paced story is the charismatic performance by its all-star cast. We have, for example, Cillian Murphy in the lead role, playing opposite Sam Neill as the dogged police officer hounding the gang, with fellow “The Dark Knight Rises” alumni Tom Hardy joining the ranks in the second series.

Imagine a future where the human mind can interface directly with the World Wide Web. Now imagine what a computer virus can do to such a system. This is the premise of “H+: The Digital Series,” where a computer implant gives a third of humans 24/7 online access through their brains. Each episode is presented as a “snapshot” of various moments before and after the incident. And the show does this incredibly well, making it one of the most popular web series of the decade. No surprise, really, seeing how Bryan Singer (of “X-Men” fame) and Warner Brothers are behind “H+.”
Stars Charlie Cox, Deborah Ann Woll, Rosario Dawson
The first attempt at a life-action adaptation of “Daredevil” was a flop. Twelve years later, Marvel’s famous blind superhero is kicking butt and taking names in style. “Daredevil” is the first of four Netflix series leading to an “Avengers”-style mashup in “The Defenders.” More importantly, “Daredevil” really feels like a Marvel superhero flick and serves only to further the publisher’s grasp on our entertainment diet.
Stars Aml Ameen, Bae Doona, Jamie Clayton
Director Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer, James Mcteigue, Dan Glass
Eight seemingly random strangers are suddenly linked. Besides being able to mentally and emotionally sense one another, they also find themselves hunted by an organization bent on destroying their kind. What really sets “Sense8” apart, however, is the way the Wachowskis brought this unique premise to live. All in all, “Sense8” is a definite must-watch for sci-fi enthusiasts.
