After the success of Virgil Abloh‘s debut collection as Louis Vuitton‘s creative director last June, the upcoming release for said collection still excites fans of both names.
But now thanks to someone who has possession of the official release photos which then uploaded them online and of course, the wonderful magic that is the Internet, we can now see the collection prior to its release (predicted early next year.)
If you remember the June show, you’ll notice how Abloh embraced LV’s everlasting obsession with accessories (most notably their bags) and created a whole bunch with his own signature on them.
Most interesting are the bags who have been identical with subdued darker tones, now appear very playful with shiny metallics, galaxy prints, transparent vinyls, or simply bright tones like red, blue or yellow. They come in an array of out-of-the-box variants such as the shoulder or thigh pouch, the waist sling or the mini briefcase and duffel bags. Let’s not forget Abloh’s distinct personal touch: the orange chain.
Meanwhile the belts are an expansion of the bags, more brown monogram + orange chain, going side by side with the colorful bunch. The footwear also came like a sports store catalogue, with more sneakers coming in, from high tops to runners. Not that they’re not planning on releasing something dandier – there are a couple of boots and dress shoes in there as well.
The rest is probably where Abloh goes wild, like the millionaire sunglasses, or applying his two main themes (“Wizard of Oz” and space exploration) into pieces like hats, scarves, necktie, towels, mufflers and gloves.
Some of these pieces are already on sale at LV’s pop up store last month, but the complete collection is still projected to be released in-season, so probably January would be the earliest.
