CALL TO ATTENTION. Recently presented at Milan Fashion Week 2018, Ralph Laurent Purple Label Fall 2018 collection references classic military outfits
As one of the first major fashion events of the fashion industry calendar, Milan Fashion Week has always been a grounds for brands to show-off their stylish predictions of the upcoming year and Ralph Lauren Purple Label did so with a Military themed presentation. To showcase its latest collection, attire was organized into five sartorial themes that referenced military navy wear, air force uniforms, heritage grey-scale outfits as well as a section dedicated to more formal ensembles.
Despite the military theme of the new collection, the color of the collection stayed true to Ralph Lauren’s classic neutral color palette that it is known for. The naval force-inspired outfits featured cable knits and decorated marine jackets embellished by military insignia, while notes of red and gold-detailing brightened the navy inspired collection. A change of hue to a more military olive-green shifted the transition of style to a more air-force-inspired look with appearances of bombers, puffers and flight jackets that were adorned with signature army orange. A monochrome section that saw various heritage patterns such as Glen plaids, Houndstooth and check prints presented a more casual style, while a luxurious range of dinner jackets featuring velvet and three-piece suits demonstrated the allure of high-end menswear.
Will the clean cut military look be the new style for men this fall? We’ll just have to wait and see.
