Delve into the world of Bvlgari’s B.zero1 jewelry and fine timepieces with Omar Daniel

In a collaborative photoshoot with Bvlgari, DAMAN chats with Omar Daniel about his acting ventures, and how the Italian jeweler and watchmaker’s creations resonate with his own sense of style

Omar Daniel, known for both his captivating on-screen performances and innate sense of style, embodies the essence of modern elegance. DAMAN: How did you discover your passion for acting?
Omar Daniel: Actually, I discovered my passion for acting after I joined and [temporarily] left the entertainment industry. I got an acting opportunity—something I had never thought of doing and loving—because I was camera-shy. But, as someone who enjoys challenges and new experiences, I decided to give it a try. I did feel pressured and uncomfortable, wondering why I had to do this and that. I was still in college at that time and wanted to just have fun. Normally, I hung out with my friends after hours, but I had to go to work instead.

I was involved in an accident that forced me to rest for about eight months. It was during this period when I felt like something was missing … and I thought it was acting. Of course, I wasn’t simply slacking for eight months. I learned more about acting and the entertainment world. My venture to the industry felt like an instant process. Now, I don’t want people to judge me and think that I am an instant movie star. I really have to bring something to the table and make people understand that I build and play my characters really well. I want to achieve that, and it’s certainly not something I can get by slacking off. And up to this point, I am still learning to improve my performance quality.

DA: Tell us a bit about your latest movie, “The Architecture of Love”…
OD: “The Architecture of Love” follows the story of two people with different issues. They remove themselves from their respective situations and unexpectedly meet, and that’s how the love story between them begins. The premise of the story is actually simple, but still there’s much more to explore, including my character. I play Dias Umbara, an Indonesian musician who moves to New York and becomes a successful, renowned jazz musician. He lives with Aga, played by Jerome Kurnia, and Jihan Almira’s character, Erin. Later, he meets Putri Marino’s character and River, played Nicholas Saputra. Like other overseas Indonesians, they have a community. There, they know each other and love starts to bloom. Dias, in particular, is someone who keeps his feelings, loves in silence, and believes that love doesn’t mean he has to be together. You have to watch the movie to learn more about him.

DA: Looking presentable is, of course, important for an actor. One often overlooked aspect, especially for men’s fashion, is accessories such as jewelry and watches. What are your thoughts on this?
OD: When it comes to men’s accessories, I love bracelets. I also like rings and watches. I once heard that for women, diamonds are their best friends. For men, however, I think it’s watches. Because, apparently, men don’t mind investing in timepieces. They can express himself through a watch, be it a formal one or a casual one. Let’s say, someone dons a simple look, but elevates it through a bold, iconic watch. So, yeah, what a man wants to express can be conveyed through watches … and also shoes. But, of course, when it specifically comes to accessories, for me it’s watches.

DA: What is your preference when it comes to choosing jewelry and watches?
OD: First, it’s the material: is it silver or gold, or something else? The second aspect is the design. I look at how interesting the design is. And the last one is the color. I wear a combination of white and gold or silver more often than one of gold and black or other shades.

DA: Sometimes, we want to look daring. Can you share with us your formula for a bold look?
OD: Well, just know yourself. Just be yourself, be proud of and celebrate yourself. It’s that simple. It’s important to know yourself—your ability and limits, and have confidence in yourself. From there, we will feel comfortable with ourselves and be proud of it. We can then show to the world who we really are. I think that’s the key to a bold look.

DA: For this photoshoot, you had the opportunity to try out the creations from Bvlgari—particularly the B.zero1 jewelry collection. How does this daring aspect of the brand resonate with you?
OD:  I especially like Bvlgari’s masculine and bold designs. I think this aspect helps brings positive energy to us, because what we wear is a form of communication; it’s how we represent ourselves and what we want to convey to others. The aspect also boosts the confidence and gives me courage to take the risks—the right decisions, of course.

DA: What are your favorite Bvlgari creations from the photoshoot?
OD: One of my favorites is the B.zero1 four-bands ring in white gold and pink gold. The design is simple, yet still classy and iconic. The ring might seem thick, but it is very comfortable to wear. When it comes to style, I prioritize comfort. With comfort, comes confidence. And later, we can spread positivity to others.

DA: How would you describe Bvlgari in three words?
OD: Iconic, bold and timeless.
