The pieces pay tribute to the late Virgil Abloh’s love for basketball and his hometown
For some, February is the month of love and Off-White can attest to that. This month, the American streetwear brand collaborated with Chicago Bulls to celebrate its founder’s passion for basketball and Chicago, his hometown, through a limited-edition capsule. For this collection, convention-defying designs are melded with sporty aesthetics, resulting in four sartorial pieces that reflect the glory of the two worlds.
Highlights of the capsule include two varsity jackets, rendered in blue-black and red-white palettes. The blue-black version is adorned with basketball-themed patches and Off-White’s iconic stripes that invade the arms, while the back features a bull caricature, juxtaposed with “ABLOH” lettering. The red-white counterpart, however, comes with fewer patches on the arm, while the stripes and the details on the back are retained.
The capsule also includes a sweatshirt and a t-shirt, serving as a more minimal rendition of the jackets. Rendered in navy blue, the pieces feature a large “Off-White” lettering on the front, while the back is decorated with the same detail that adorns the blue-black varsity. A part of the capsule’s proceeds will go to the Virgil Abloh Foundation.
