Leave it to Kim Jones to design a collection for easy traveling
Anyone who’s ever heard of Louis Vuitton’s men’s artistic director Kim Jones knows how much he loves traveling. We’ve seen the way he expresses his obsession in his Louis Vuitton‘s collections, and now we get to experience it in his second collaborative collection with NikeLab.
It is clear to see that, when designing the “NikeLab x Kim Jones: Packable Sport Style” collection, Jones has “journey,” and not “destination” in mind. The collection, according to NikeLab’s official statement, “considers the planes, trains and automobiles in between.” This is the collection made for serious travel junkies, instead of jet-setters.
As the name suggests, the collection is packable. To achieve that packability, Jones and NikeLab have made sure that the seams are minimized and heat-sealed, rather than sewn. Meanwhile, weightless nylon and the innovative Nike Tech Fleece are chosen for materials. But this is not like any other Nike Tech Fleece; for the first time, the material is dyed especially for the collection and also integrated with snaps in order to make packing easier.
The collection consists of five pieces. The reversible NikeLab Bomber Jacket x Kim Jones is completed with a detachable cord at the neck allows the jacket to roll into itself. Similarly, a strap on the interior of the NikeLab Tech Fleece Hoodie x Kim Jones and the NikeLab Tech Fleece Crew x Kim Jones jackets has been added to provide the same function. Rounding up the collection are the NikeLab Tech Fleece Pant x Kim Jones and the NikeLab Air Zoom LWP x Kim Jones running shoe.
