INK VOGUE. What happens when a legendary tattoo artist collaborates with a legendary brand founded by Britain’s most loved late enfant terrible?
MxM, a.k.a. Maxime Büchi, is a Swiss-born tattooist who has designed logos or fonts for couture fashion houses including Mugler, Damir Doma, Rick Owens and Balenciaga. Known for his dark- and nautical-themed artwork, MxM’s parlors reside in Lausanne, London and Brooklyn – but getting an appointment with him is another story.
For this season he gives the needle some rest and crafts a graphic imagery instead, which gets printed on a loose tee and a fitted shirt for McQ by Alexander McQueen. That’s not all as Büchi also gets to design a special installation for the McQ London flagship’s store window on Dover Street – unveiled last mid-September – and more sartorial pieces for the 2014 spring/ summer collection.
