For the 60th anniversary of the Dr. Martens 1460 boots, Marc Jacobs has come on board as the designer for its 1460 Remastered project.
Marc Jacobs announces its participation in becoming the latest designer for Dr. Martens’s ongoing 1460 project. The project itself is about creating a redesigned silhouette to celebrate the 60th anniversary of Dr. Martens’s 1460 boot with a different collaborative partner each month. Jacobs himself remarked: “Dr. Martens has long been a symbol of individuality and counterculture. Marc Jacobs and Dr. Martens are united in a strong sense of authenticity and having your voice heard.”
He has referenced the ways in which people have customized the boots over the last 60 years, also nodding to the DIY spirit that has run throughout his collections. Celebrating this influence, the designer has added a range of gold trinkets such as whistles, dice, and keys to chains wrapped around the boot. In another notable twist, Jacobs has worked with the vegan version of the boot, featuring a vegan heel loop and design touches such as a dual-branded tongue label and swing tag.
