Responding to the urgency of the COVID-19 pandemic, the LVMH Group has produced massive quantities of hand sanitizer utilizing its perfume and cosmetics factory. Recently, the luxury conglomerate announced that it will be supplying French authorities with at least 40 million masks.
After converting its perfume and cosmetics factory to manufacture hydroalcoholic gel amidst hand sanitizer shortages in France, luxury conglomerate LVMH announced that its next step in helping the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic will take the form of supplying French authorities with at least 40 million masks . According to an official statement from the group, LVMH has been able to secure the order for said masks from a Chinese manufacturer.
To ensure that production begins immediately, CEO Bernard Arnault has ordered LVMH to fund the first batch at a cost of €5 million.This initial batch consists of 10 million masks, seven million of which are surgical masks with the remaining three million being FFP2 masks. A similar order has also been placed in order to bring the total to roughly 40 million masks. Once they’re ready, LVMH will handle everything from managing the supply chain, customs clearance and delivery.
