Referring to the algorithm of masculinity, LOEWE presents a whimsical fall/winter collection in collaboration with American artist Richard Hawkins
LOEWE sided with art for its Fall/Winter 2024 showcase, both for the collection and the show space. This season, LOEWE’s creative director J.W. Anderson didn’t work alone in bringing his idea forward. American artist Richard Hawkins, renowned for his aesthetic collaging work, became Anderson’s ultimate right hand.
The idea was to present the algorithm of masculinity and how it drives everything up on a daily basis. And there’s no better way to underpin it than putting up Hawkins’ work on Anderson’s creations for the Spanish fashion house. From the coats, the suits, the blousons, the jumpers, the long cardigans, the leather trousers and the fatigues to the tracksuit bottoms, Hawkins’ fascination for the male body is crystalized in a variety of fabrics, in various notes, prints, jacquard, embroidery and many more.
One notable look that instantly commanded attention is the juxtaposition of simplicity and intricacy in the pairing of an embellished tracksuit with a plain blouse. The definition of an ultra-maximalist look is also shown through the pairing between the snakeskin leather pants and the illustrious hoodie jacket, showcasing a distinguishing contrast between the pieces.
In the accessories department, the Biker and Combat boots took center stage. Turning the collection even more interesting is the combination of shoes and socks, socks and pants, pants and jackets or coats attached to one another, reminiscent of a collage. The house’s Puzzle Fold tote has also been elevated with collaged embellishments covering the bag’s surface.
