FAMILY AFFAIR. After the Gerber siblings, Calvin Klein has now recruited the Kardashian and Jenner sisters to be in its latest family orientated #MYCALVINS campaign
Calvin Klein has seen a lot of change since Raf Simons took over the reins as artistic director, bringing with him a creative edge quite different from what we’ve seen before. After a slew of American art inspired campaigns, Simons’ latest concept for the brand aims to re-embrace its American roots while focusing on the main concept of family. The “Our Family. #MYCALVINS” campaign which kicked off back in November last year has gained great social media momentum for featuring some big names such as Solange, Kelela, Dev Hynes, Caroline Polachek and Adam Bainbridge of Kindness, as well as A$AP Rocky, A$AP Ferg, A$AP Nast, A$AP Twelvyy, A$AP Ant, A$AP Lou, and A$AP J. Scott of A$AP Mob, then most recently was followed up by Kaia and Presley Gerber. Continuing with the American family orientated theme, what better way to spread the word then to feature one of the most talked about family in America and probably the world, the Kardashians.
Just in case you’ve been living under a rock for the past decade, the Kardashian and Jenner sisters are known for their popular TV reality-show “Keeping up with the Kardashians”. The three Kardashian sisters Kim, Khloé and Kourtney, plus their younger siblings Kendall and Kylie Jenner are featured in the latest ads for Calvin Klein Jeans and Calvin Klein Jeans. This will be the first time that all the sisters have come together to be featured in a fashion campaign. Before this, Kim Kardashian-West has been featured in numerous fashion campaigns before, including her run with husband Kanye West for Balmain, while Kendall has modeled for Victoria Secret and various other brands. The campaign was shot in what seems to be either a wooden barn or a stable, referring back to the Americana theme that Simons is trying to bring back to the brand.
Amongst the news of both Kylie and Khloé both being pregnant during the time of the shoot, photographer Willy Vanderperre was creative enough to hide the baby bumps under some cleverly placed blankets. If you’ve been following the campaign since its first launch in November, you will notice that they are the same red and white patterned blankets featured in the previous campaign. It still hasn’t been announced whether the blankets will be part of Calvin Klein’s Spring/Summer 2018 collection when it’s launched later this year, so we’ll just have to wait and see. With the “Our Family. #MYCALVINS” campaign set to run until Spring 2018, we are sure to see more famous families get together for upcoming campaigns.
