Simon Porte Jacquemus fulfilled his biggest dream by showcasing his fall/winter 2024 collection in the filming location of “Le Mépris”
For Simon Porte Jacquemus, the 15th anniversary of his eponymous brand Jacquemus was an important milestone. And as it happens, he had always wanted to showcase a runway show at Capri Island’s Casa Malaparte, one of the filming locations for the 1963 film “Le Mépris,” whose beauty and modernity became the seed of inspiration that started the brand.
Not too long ago, that dream became reality as the terracotta terrace of the modernist Italian villa became the stage for the Jacquemus Fall/Winter 2024 “La Casa” collection .
To go to the runway show, the 40 invited guests were transported using private boats before nestling in the curvaceous row beside the runway. In front of them, trees overshadowing the deep-blue waters below became a serene background for the minimalist yet audacious Jacquemus designs.
The see-now-buy-now concept adopted by Jacquemus also included plenty of menswear. A total of 19 pieces for men were showcased among 47 looks. The first highlighted Jacquemus’ signature shawl-collar top, paired with tonal pants and a structured jacket. Next, a pair of Azure blue sweaters and pleated pants accentuated with a turquoise belt and bag bridged the previous monochrome pieces and the colorful side of the collection.
Jacquemus brought a lineup of thin-strap tops paired with Bermudas and tailored pants. Accompanying them was a summer tote bag in matching prints with a pair of loafers and an oversized bag in a sky blue shade. As a designer renowned for his structural pieces, Jacquemus also featured many distinguished shirts in stiff cuts completed by discerning accessories of clutches and bags, creating well-put-together looks that are aligned with today’s aesthetics.
