Wii WANTS U. Nintendo revolutionized the world of console gaming with their paradigm-busting Wii, which proved that gamers were willing to get off of the couch and get active by swatting at virtual tennis balls.
Now they aim to make a similar game-changing move with their next console, the Wii U. The centerpiece of the new system is an entirely new kind of gamepad which looks like a cross between traditional controllers and an iPad. The Wii U Gamepad, features a 6-inch touch screen in addition to the standard analog stick and variety of buttons, which allows for some interesting gameplay possibilities, such as mapping out a football play on your private screen so your opponent won’t know what hit them.
The gamepad can also be used independently to play full-featured games as well as stream video and other audio — Nintendo’s ultimate goal is to make the Wii U an all-in-one family entertainment center.
