Fairmont Jakarta’s 1945 Restaurant Presents Indonesian Menu with a Twist

Bringing the cheer of the 74th Independence Day celebration to the table is Fairmont Jakarta‘s 1945 Restaurant special menu!

The national holiday is celebrated throughout the archipelago with flag ceremony and continued with parades, community gathering and fun traditional games involving adults and children such as sack races and eating crackers. This year, 1945 Restaurant is delighted to bring the fun activities to the table by creating special menu inspired by popular traditional Indonesian games that will be served on the 17 and 18 August 2019.

Known for bringing modern twists of traditional Indonesian food as gourmet cuisine, 1945 Restaurant elevates familiar dishes into exquisitely flavor and colorful creations through the alchemy of its kitchen. Chef de Cuisine, Adhtia Julisiandi has prepared a 4-course tasting menu with a fun twist that will take guests walk down memory lane and rekindle the fun activities played during Independence Day.

The culinary journey starts with “Pensil & Botol”, inspired by a classic game where the participant must put a pencil into a bottle. Chef Adhitia creates a whimsical edible pencil served with delightful dip made of chicken and kuah opor. The second course is inspired by “Tangkap Belut” competition. The menu consists of Chargrilled Eel, Pickled Cucumber, Kari Mayo and Fermented Ikura. The next dish is inspired by “Balap Karung” or Sack Race, made with marinated sweet skin tofu stuffed with prawn, octopus and black mussel.

For main-course the menu is inspired by one of the most iconic activities in the celebration of Independence Day, “Panjat Pinang” (Palm Climbing). Panjat Pinang is usually done by a group of people where they need to work together to reach the top of tree that has been covered by oil. At the top there are prizes to be won. Chef Adhit will be using braised beef cheek that has been cooked for 38 hours to replicate the tree. The condiments include Kecombrang Cassava, Black Garlic, Burnt Carrot and Tendon Cracker with Andaliman Sauce. To end the celebration, guests will be treated with chocolate bon bons filled with exotic fruits gells including nangka, avocado and coconut pandan, complemented with sorbet es puter, coconut toile and vanilla Chantilly cream.

1945 Restaurant special menu reflects the love for the nation as she celebrates her anniversary. The menu is available on 17 and 18 August 2019 for dinner only, with price of IDR 645,000++ per person including a “Merdeka” Mocktail.
