Located in the space once occupied by legendary nightclub Bengkel Night Park, Fable (Jl. Jend Sudirman Kav 52-53 Lot 22, Jakarta; 62-21/515-5008) certainly fills a hole in the nightlife scene around Jakarta’s South Central Business District.
Despite its posh address and ornate setting, complete with gilded cages, wraparound glass walls and whimsical adornments, Fable nonetheless retains its predecessor’s underground feel. In the short time since it opened, Fable has already hosted a number of notable local DJs and its frequent R&B nights are already quite popular. During the day, the glass walls allow people a pleasant view of SCBD while an outside “secret garden” area serves as a refreshing venue for al fresco dining. With a menu that ranges from foie gras ravioli to gourmet grilled cheese, this is one Fable that sure has a happy ending.
