DA MAN Caliber: Black Dials Remain a Crowd Pleaser

Ulysse Nardin Freakwing

During the golden age of naval exploration in the mid 19th century, Ulysse Nardin was a widely recognized name for marine chronometers. Today, the brand stands for haute horology with attitude. A powerful example of this is the Freakwing, the latest model from the Freak collection. As a celebratory piece for the partnership with the Artemis Racing team in America’s cup, the Freakwing’s hallmark of excellence—the oversized minute hand bearing the gear train and also the tourbillon at the center—is designed to resemble a catamaran’s sail. There is also the magic of the no-crown mechanism: The upper bezel is rotatable to adjust the time and the lower bezel is used to wind the movement.
