Céline To Release First Ever Ready-to-Wear Men’s Collection

FOR THE FIRST TIME. Designer Hedi Slimane to join fashion house Céline, and is said to introduce the very first ready-to-wear menswear collection to the brand

Hedi Slimane set to bring major change to Céline

You may be asking, who is Hedi Slimane and why has his arrival to Céline brought much buzz in the fashion world. The French-born designer who currently resides in LA is known for introducing the super-skinny all-black look that dominated Dior Homme in the early 2000s and more recently was responsible for transforming Yves Saint Laurent into Saint Laurent Paris while injecting a new rock ‘n’ roll mood to the label. Much speculation arose as to where he would end up following his departure from Saint Laurent Paris in 2016.

It has been announced that Slimane will be replacing the former creative director at Céline, Phoebe Philo, whose androgynous designs not only appealed to women, but somehow attracted men to purchase and wear her oversized shirts. Known for completely transforming brands, one such major change that has been announced is the introduction of Céline’s first ever ready-to-wear menswear collection. This is sure to not only attract the men that once sought after Philo’s manly inspired style but hopefully bring a whole new following to the brand. Popular for his grungy style with a Parisian twist, it will be interesting to see the direction Slimane takes the brand.

Hedi Slimane will join Céline starting this February and set to showcase his first fashion presentation for both men and women this September during Paris Fashion Week. Let’s see what major overhauls he will bring to Céline. Until then, we will just have to wait in anticipation.
