Cartier continues to celebrate the Trinity collection’s centenary with a special pop-up exhibition in Singapore

Three has always been a significant number for Cartier, as it represents unity, harmony and balance. This symbolism is deeply embedded in the maison’s heritage, particularly through the Trinity collection, which was introduced in 1924 by Louis Cartier. And for a hundred years, the simple yet meaningful interlocking bands of yellow, white and rose gold has stood the test of time as a universal icon.
To mark this milestone, Cartier has launched a traveling pop-up exhibition, which not too long ago made a stop in Singapore. The exhibition was held at The Arts House, a historic building that once housed Singapore’s first Parliament, from July 15 to 23. Spanning over 674 square meters and featuring seven interconnected rooms, this immersive experience invites guests to explore the centenary of the Trinity, celebrating the journey of this jewelry icon from its inception to its latest evolutions.
<h2>THE ROOMS</h2>
Visitors start their Trinity tour with a multimedia presentation in the “Three is a Magic Number” room, which showcases the story of the three Cartier brothers—Louis, Pierre, and Jacques—and their pioneering boutiques in Paris, London and New York. This historical context sets the stage for understanding the significance of the Trinity rings.

Then, the show continues to “The Creative Evolution” room, which features historical advertisements and showcases how the collection has been reimagined over the decades into various forms, such as necklaces, bracelets and even unique items like cigarette lighters.

“The Early Days of an Icon: Trinity and Jean Cocteau” room pays homage to the poet and artist Jean Cocteau, who popularized the ring in the 1930s by wearing two Trinity rings stacked on his left pinky. Cocteau then introduced the Trinity to actor Jean Marais with the poignant words: “The first band is you, the second is me and the third is our love.” His profound influence on the Trinity, marked by a romantic and poetic bond with the ring, elevated it into a timeless emblem of his artistic spirit and enduring legacy.

It’s no secret that the Trinity has captivated members of the world’s elite fashion circles and remains a favorite among those considered cultural icons. In the “Trinity: The Icons of Icons” room, the exhibition traces the Trinity’s evolution, celebrating its diversity and universality as a treasured adornment across eras, embodying timeless allure while honoring icons of past, present and future​.
<h2>THE ART INSTALLATIONS</h2>
One of the standout features of Cartier’s pop-up exhibition is the display featuring 30 selected artworks from the “Imagine Infinite Circles” project, curated by Jérôme Sans. For the Trinity’s 100th anniversary, Cartier has commissioned 100 creative works by artists from around the world, each offering their own interpretation of the theme of circularity and the Trinity’s essence.

The pop-up also features contributions from contemporary artists such as Cartier’s own brand ambassador Jackson Wang, whose installation incorporates music and visual art. These diverse artworks celebrate the Trinity’s enduring influence on different worlds, whether it’s fashion, art or music. All in all, the Cartier Trinity 100 pop-up in Singapore is not just an exhibition but a celebration of century-long legacy that blends art, history and luxury.
