Timeless Creation – The Tank Américaine from Cartier was first designed in 1987—based on the curved case of the 1921 Tank Cintrée—and then launched in 1989. The most recent iteration of the legendary watch now comes with an elongated case and a more pronounced curve than the original model.
It playfully updates the geometry of the original lines, retaining the rectangular form while alternating between round edges and angles. Available in three sizes—small, medium and large—the new Tank Américaine embodies the spirit of the original Tank’s contemporary and understated aesthetics. All three feature a silvered dial with brushed center and elongated Roman numerals that wrap around the edge of the dial. Showcasing clean lines and a strong presence on the wrist, the eternally elegant Tank Américaine makes an utterly modern statement in presenting steel as a precious material.
