Over the years, IWC Schaffhausen has introduced numerous high-complication Portugieser timepieces. This year, the brand launched the Portugieser Hand-Wound Tourbillon Day &amp; Night, a watch that combines an 18K Armor Gold case with an obsidian lacquered dial, gold-plated hands and gold appliques. This captivating creation houses a flying minute tourbillon at 6 o’clock, which weighs only 0.675 grams. Another definite highlight is the watch’s innovative day-and-night display, which shows the eternal cycle of day and night with the help of a small sphere rotating around its axis, visible both from the dial and the movement side.

Launched at this year’s Watches &amp; Wonders Geneva, the breathtaking Roger Dubuis Orbis in Machina Central Monotourbillon blends mechanical ingenuity and artistic creativity. In this watch, the flying tourbillon occupies a prominent position, facilitating a balanced and concentric arrangement, moving away from Roger Dubuis’ traditional 7 o’clock positioning. The mechanism also features a patent-pending planetary system optimised for a more compact design to create a minimalist appearance. The watch comes in an 18K pink gold case with matching bezel, and is powered by the manual-winding Calibre RD115.

Hublot MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System
Hublot’s limited-edition MP-10 Tourbillon Weight Energy System was one of the highlights from this year’s Watches and Wonders Geneva. The watch presented a modern style with smooth edges that underlined the way it combines form and substance. What really makes this piece magical is how it has no hands, dial or oscillating weight. Instead, four rotating displays on the HUB9013 manufacture movement show the hours, minutes, seconds and power reserve. And as the piece de resistance, there’s an inclined tourbillon with automatic winding by two linear weights.

The RM 27-05 Flying Tourbillon Rafael Nadal from Richard Mille combines technical progress with sporty aesthetics. The watch, excluding its strap, weighs a mere 11,5 grams and can withstand acceleration forces of up to 14,000Gs, which is a two-fold record for a manual-winding tourbillon watch. Furthermore, what gives this model another major advantage is the qualities of its new composite material—Carbon TPT B.4—which is four percent denser than stainless-steel. Compared to earlier Carbon TPT, this material also features fibers that are 15 percent stiffer and binding resin that is 30 percent stronger.
