One notable figure who has recently joined the ongoing protest against racism is none other than the elusive and private street artist Banksy. The well-known artist honors Black Lives Matter with his latest artwork that also comes with a powerful statement.

This time, his painting showcases a memorial centered around a portrait of a shadowy figure which is accompanied by a candle that’s beginning to burn a U.S. flag. It shows his support against social justice initiatives following the tragic death of George Floyd.

In addition to the painting, Banksy also shared a powerful message—in a statement published on Instagram—about the Black Lives Matter movement&#8221; “At first I thought I should just shut up and listen to black people about this issue. But why would I do that? It’s not their problem. It’s mine. People of color are being failed by the system. The white system. Like a broken pipe flooding the apartment of the people living downstairs. This faulty system is making their life a misery, but it’s not their job to fix it. They can’t—no-one will let them in the apartment upstairs. This is a white problem. And if white people don’t fix it, someone will have to come upstairs and kick the door in.”
