In collaboration with Danish design studio Norm Architect, audio and sound behemoths Bang & Olufsen launches “Contrast Collection”. Limited to just eight pieces, the collection celebrates the shared curiosity and craftmanship between the two brands by exploring new ways of working with aluminium.
In its latest collection, Bang & Olufsen and Norm Architects wanted to turn the mirror-like aluminium—an integral and ubiquitous part of the Bang & Olufsen’s design aesthetic—into a soft and warm spectrum of colours, resulting in the light grey and anthracite color palette of the collection. On the other hand, the brushed aluminium textures of the collection pieces were obtained with both brands doing countless experiments with different surface treatments.
Eight pieces from the collection are also feature da transparent wool-fabric, fw with Danish design textile company Kvadrat in 2015. The fabric, which was made of wool and viscose—originates from Kvadrat’s Hallingdal Fabric that provides excellent durability, while the viscose adds brilliance and depth to the colour. The original version uses thick yarns, so the structure has been loosened to deliver high acoustic performance, while maintaining its rich texture.
