<p>But despite causing a stir, athletes wearing expensive watches during competition isn’t a new thing.</p>
<p>In the old days, racing drivers wore watches before the current timing technology was founded; golfers most of the time had watches on their wrists; the 2016 Olympic in Rio saw a lot of athletes wearing their watches.
