THE ANNUAL PREMIERE. IWC Schaffhausen comes to fill the gap between expensive perpetual calendar timepieces and simple date-displayed watches.
The new Portugieser Annual Calendar has all what you need from a perpetual calendar—day, date and month at 12 o’clock—despite the lack of the leap-year feature (you need to adjust the watch once a year at the end of February). But what’s more impressive is that the new IWC-manufactured 52850 caliber has an extensive power reserve of seven days—indicated at 3 o’clock on the dial. Design-wise, the watch pays tribute to F. A. Jones, IWC’s American founder. The 44.2mm case retains a grooved bezel with a classic railway track and Arabic numerals on the dial. The red gold watchcase comes with a silver-plated dial, while the stainless steel version goes with either a silver-plated or midnight blue dial.
