There’s always something exciting going on at a watch auction. That’s also the case with Sotheby’s Important Watches auction, which was held on November 15 in Geneva
On Monday, a Patek Philippe watch broke the world record for the most expensive wristwatch at an auction. The watch was sold at 11,020,000 Swiss francs or more than 11 million U.S. dollars.
It was indeed a price worth paying for such an extremely rare watch. Not only is the watch made from stainless steel (which is unusual for Patek Philippe), it also comes with multiple complications, which include a chronograph, a perpetual calendar and a moon phase. The watch is one of only four known to exist.
