This Cartier Watch Keeps an Air of Mystery About It

HAIL THE NEW CROWN. At the Watches & Wonders 2015 exhibition, Cartier braced the brand new Clé de Cartier timepieces with sublime in-house movements

Its Mysterious Hour version is completely bewitching with watch hands seemingly floating in the air. This artistic masterpiece is powered by Cartier’s own manual-winding caliber 9981 MC.

Encircling the hands is an eloquent work of skeletonized dial, sporting the house’s iconic Roman numerals. For the case, the 41mm elegant watch comes in 18K pink gold and palladium. Both highlight the emblematic crown with a posh blue sapphire insert at 3 o’clock that takes after the shape of old winding keys—hence the name “Clé” which means “key” in French.
