ANIMAL INSTINCT. Fueled by creative director Alessandro Michele’s rich and colorful aesthetics, the new watches from Gucci slither in with new styles and animal icons
Two nylon-strap watches from the 2017 Le Marché des Merveilles collection
The success of Gucci under the helm of new creative director Alessandro Michele is secret no more. His rich, colorful imageries that fill the clothes on the runway are further extended to the timepiece collection, especially in the 2017 Le Marché des Merveilles series. Three particular animal motifs become the icons adorning the watch dials: Tiger, snake and bee. They appear on both the woven and the leather dials, all watches of which measure 38mm in diameter.

The strap choices also correspond to the dial background color, making each a stylish option to complement an equally snappy look. If that’s not enough, there’s a bee engraving on the case-back and a rather mysterious French inscription on the nylon strap that reads “L’Aveugle par Amour,” which literally means “Blindness by Love.” Without a doubt, the Le Marché des Merveilles watches are the most stunning quartz pieces in 2017 so far.
