When Polo Ralph Lauren first unveiled the designs of Team USA’s outfits for the Olympics opening and closing ceremonies, the response has been lukewarm at best. But the brand may have a chance to change people’s mind with this one-of-a-kind jacket.
It’s, as kids are saying these days, lit. Literally.
By incorporating wearable technology, Polo Ralph Lauren has managed to create a glow-in-the-dark (sort of) jacket. With the help of battery-powered electroluminescent panels attached on the jacket, the team patch on the breast pocket and the letters U.S.A on the back will light up when being worn.
Too bad the jacket will only be available in one piece only; meaning, only one person can wear it. The honor will be bestowed upon the up-to-now-unnamed team’s flag bearer during the opening ceremony.
