FOR THE MASSES. We take a look at some of the reissued items that Kim Jones has taken out of his design archive that will be available at Uniqlo’s affordable sister label GU
After Kim Jones announced his departure from Louis Vuitton, many have debated on which fashion brand will nab the renowned designer, but it seems he is taking a hiatus of sorts from high-end brands. This can be seen by his latest collaboration with Uniqlo’s more affordable sister label GU. Instead of introducing new designs, Jones has taken the option of reissuing items from his design archives.
The upcoming collection will encompass 15 pieces ranging from hoodies and accessories to a host of T-shirts, some bearing graphics and others offering oversized cuts. Always the one to tease his fans, Jones has leaked several teaser images of the items that will be on offer. One of the latest teaser images to be featured is a black T-shirt that highlights a photo of Jones’s favorite monkey, the Douc langur, with the words “Kim Jones’ Douc Langur” written above it. Other teaser images include a beige trucker jacket with leather patch featuring a cartoon pickle and a black back pack with a ‘guest’ patch and the words “Edge of the Looking Glass”embellished on the small front-pocket.
The collection has only been announced for availability at all GU storefronts throughout Japan, but if you’re nowhere near the land of the rising sun, but want to grab something by the famed designer, at a more affordable price range at that, know that Dover Street Market Ginza’s E-shop will have you covered. If you happen to be traveling through Tokyo, Japan sometime during March 17-20, head on over to the Dover Street Market Ginza store as they will be hosting a special pop-up store for the collaboration.
