RED HOT. While it was the film industry that bought him to fame, Eddie Redmayne has proven himself irresistible to fashion as well
People know Eddie Redmayne as an incredibly versatile actor who doesn’t shy away from challenging roles. From portraying Stephen Hawking in 2014’s “The Theory of Everything” to his recent magical venture as Newt Scamander in the “Harry Potter” spin-off “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” Redmayne never fails to leave a lasting impression.
The movie industry and theater aren’t the only ones to take a liking to the London-born star, though. Burberry, the quintessential British fashion brand, had him fronting their campaigns both in 2008 and 2012. More recently, fashion house Prada appointed him as the face of their fall/winter ’16 collection, while luxury watch brand Omega also tapped Redmayne as their brand ambassador.
Moving beyond acting and endorsements, Redmayne’s on and off the red carpet looks have also earned him much praise for being one of the best-dressed male celebrities out there. Along the years, he has made quite a name for himself with his choice of superbly fitted suits and his penchant for experimenting with different colors, patterns and fabrics. Case in point: At the 73rd Golden Globe Awards Redmayne showed up in a navy blue Gucci suit over a white shirt and black satin tie.
Another time, Redmayne was photographed wearing chinos and a T-shirt, topped with a stylish cashmere coat from Burberry. His stylish looks become all the more intriguing when you recall that the actor is famously colorblind. And while most celebrities have their own stylist to make them look presentable in front of cameras, Redmayne freely admits that he doesn’t have one. Instead, he relies on his publicist and wife Hannah Bagshawe to dress him. “I have a very wonderful stylist in the form of my wife,” he said. That certainly sounds like the romance plot in a film that Redmayne would star in.
