A FORMAL REBEL. Dior Homme’s black carpet collection pushes into a new formal territory but blends in rebellious energy and attitude
After being introduced to Dior Homme’s Black Carpet Collection by actor Robert Pattinson earlier this year, the French brand has now made the collection available. To introduce the new collection, photographer Patrick Dermachelier utilizes black and white photography to showcase the collections rebellious side. Featured in the newly revealed collection is a tailcoat and cummerbund alongside some embellished jackets with feathers and leather sequins. A confetti of appliqué leather sequins, clustered bugle beads, and bee embroideries across the breast and collar. The lily of the valley flower, a favourite of monsieur Dior, returns in a subtle matte black brooch or all-over decoration.
“The idea behind Black Carpet was to blend the energy and rebellious attitude of the collection into a capsule of evening dresses, playing with Dior’s embellishment codes and know-how, thus reworking the full male and pushing it into another extreme interpretation,” according to creative director Kris Van Assche.
