Some people struggle and never get there, and then there are guys like Chord Overstreet, still in his early 20s, who is making a gigantic splash as the new star of hit TV show Glee. Growing up amongst country music royalty (his father is Paul Overstreet, who has worked with all the big names of that genre, from Randy Travis to Tanya Tucker) obviously prepared Chord for such success and he seems to be taking it all in stride, while insisting that he isn’t getting mobbed yet. Here, he shows his modeling skills and gives DA MAN some insights about his Glee character, Sam Evans, and other projects in the works.

DA MAN: So how has it been to be on the Glee cast this season? 
Chord Overstreet: It has been great, I am having a blast. Everyone is fun to work with, it has been a fun experience overall.
DA MAN: Now that you’ve been dubbed the &#8220;new Glee stud,&#8221; you’ll be expected to be like a role model for young guys. I’m sure photographers and tabloids are already monitoring your every move these days. How does that make you feel? 
Chord Overstreet: Yes, I have been getting noticed. People ask for pictures and autographs—I don’t get mobbed, but definitely noticed.
DA MAN: We’ve seen that you grew up around country music, are you going to be bringing any Nashville influences onto the show? 
Chord Overstreet: I would like to eventually do that. The writers and creators pick the music, so it depends on what they pick. If they pick a Justin Timberlake song, I am not going to put a country twist on that, but it would be great to do it one day.
DA MAN: You play Sam on Glee, what can you tell us about that role currently and the future plans for it? 
Chord Overstreet: I can’t give away too much about the future, but Sam is a very goofy, quirky kind of closet nerd. He is also a huge sports fan and a jock. He likes to make bad jokes, but overall I think he is a lovable guy.
DA MAN: So are you full-steam ahead on the acting career, or still dabbling in other things? 
Chord Overstreet: I am also working on my music and dancing, as well as my acting.
DA MAN: What made you decide to go the acting route, instead of following in your dad’s footsteps and becoming a country singer/songwriter? 
Chord Overstreet: I am currently singing and songwriting as well as acting, I have not made a final decision yet.
DA MAN: How did you prepare yourself for the Glee audition? Is it true you went through four rounds of auditions? 
Chord Overstreet: It was a long process; we were in the casting office for three or four hours. I sang three songs and then had to do the studio screen test and network screen test. I found out I got the part a week later.
DA MAN: What did you do as a youngster, like sports, to get so fit? 
Chord Overstreet: I played football, baseball, soccer, hockey, basketball, gymnastics, foosball and even croquet when I was growing up.
DA MAN: So are you based in L.A. now? 
Chord Overstreet: Yes, I am!
DA MAN: How is that adjustment going? 
Chord Overstreet: L.A. is awesome, I love it here.
DA MAN: I’ve heard that you play the guitar, drums and mandolin; which is your favorite and why? 
Chord Overstreet: Guitar is my favorite because I write a lot of music with my guitar.
DA MAN: Who is the most talented member of the Glee cast? 
Chord Overstreet: Me &#8230; no. Everyone is super-talented. I can’t pick one person.
DA MAN: Is there any competition amongst all that talent? 
Chord Overstreet: No. Everyone gets along really well. We are all working toward the same goal, which is a great show.
DA MAN: What did you think of actual glee club kids when you were in high school? 
Chord Overstreet: My high school did not have a glee club. If it did, I would have most likely been a member.
DA MAN: What sort of acting practice/prep have you done? 
Chord Overstreet: I’ve had classes and private acting coaches.
DA MAN: Have there been any challenging scenes, ones you thought, ‘oh my, how can I do that’? 
Chord Overstreet: Everything is challenging. If it were not, everyone would do it. It’s one of those things where you work really hard and hopefully it will turn out well.
DA MAN: What is the most difficult part of making a TV show? 
Chord Overstreet: The amount of time it takes to do everything; the shooting and rehearsal schedule can be rigorous.
DA MAN: What is the best part of showbiz? 
Chord Overstreet: Being able to see the finished product and seeing your work come together.
DA MAN: Do you have any guilty pleasures, musically? 
Chord Overstreet: I love the Brady Bunch theme song.
DA MAN: What is your typical day like? 
Chord Overstreet: Work. Work. Work. I wake up, take a shower, go to work; then go to dance rehearsal and then to the gym and back home at night.
DA MAN: Who do you hope to work with in the future? 
Chord Overstreet: I would really like to work with Leo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Robert Downey Jr., David Fincher, J.J. Abrams, Brian Goldner, Steven Spielberg, Guy Ritchie, Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese and Dustin Hoffman.
