THE RACE IS ON. In honor of the 60th anniversary of Omega’s Speedmaster line, the Swiss watchmaker revives a treasured timepiece from the past, updating it for the future
In the spirit of Speedmaster’s 60th anniversary, Omega brings a treasured timepiece from the past to the present and the future. The Speedmaster Racing Master Chronometer is a new collection that has its roots in the line’s original 1968 design but comes reinforced with a superlative movement (caliber 9900/9901) certified as a Master Chronometer by the Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS). At a glance, the smooth 44.25mm case is bigger than a traditional Moonwatch, and the contrasting dial highlights the alternating minute track (“racing” style) in between the Super-LumiNova-layered hour markers. While the stainless steel option boasts a perforated, racing-styled strap, the 18K Sedna gold case features a deep blue hue on both the dial and the strap. Given the fact that it’s a debut collection, each piece is definitively a collector’s item.
