Known primarily for aviator watches, Breitling reasserts its expertise in creating timepieces for air, land and sea
Navitimer Super 8
Every Breitling timepiece has a tale to tell, and the Navitimer Super 8—one of the most exciting reveals at Baselworld 2018—comes with quite a narrative. The new watch is inspired by the Reference 637, a stopwatch used by bomber crews during World War II and the brainchild of the legendary Huit Aviation Department. From its predecessor, the Navitimer Super 8 inherited its bold and muscular design. Taking into account the distinctive bidirectional rotating bezel, the watch features a total diameter of 50mm. Despite its impressive dimensions, the Navitimer Super 8 offers exceptional comfort, thanks in part to the prominent screw-locked crown positioned on the left side of the case. All in all, this is a pilot’s watch that perfectly blends Breitling’s rich heritage and 21st century sophistication.
The Navitimer Super 8 is driven by the Manufacture Caliber B20 automatic movement, which is chronometer-certified and offers an impressive power reserve of over 70 hours
The hour and minute hands are coated in Super-Luminova for easy readability in all lighting conditions, while a triangular pointer that is adjusted by rotating the bezel makes tracking elapsed times a breeze
Rounding up the Navitimer Super 8 is a brown NATO leather strap that snugly secures the massive watch to your wrist
Chronomat B01 Chronograph 44
The Chronomat name has long been associated with aviators, yet it also has found quite a following among “people whose adventures take place not only in the air, but also on land and at sea—above
and below the surface.” So, this year, Breitling has re-imagined its ultimate pilot’s chronograph for adventurers of all stripes. Visually, the Chronomat B01 Chronograph 44’s satin-brushed case lends it a subtle contemporary flair, making it also an ideal choice for the kind of adventures that involves dressing up a bit. This understated look, however, belies superior technical capability as the watch is driven by the chronometer-certified (which is a given for Breitling wristwatches) Breitling Manufacture Caliber 01 that comes with a power reserve of almost three full days.
