Women’s Watches : Bejeweled Bezel

BEJEWELED BEZEL. Diamonds on a bezel might just be the little sparkle that every woman needs to steal the spotlight

Vacheron Constantin Malte Small Model

It isn’t that hard to stand out among the crowd, even if you’re a die-hard fan of clean-cut simplicity. That’s what Vacheron Constantin aims to embody in the latest offering of the tonneau-shaped Malte watches for ladies. History notes that the brand was among the first that championed the shape as an alternative to round watchcases back in 1912. More than a century later, the elegant style lives on and quietly steals the spotlight from the circular friend. Available in three versions, this specific Malte boasts an uncluttered watch face despite the presence of a seconds counter above 6 o’clock. The case-back is even more stunning with the sapphire crystal revealing a splendid view of the manual-winding mechanism, courtesy of Vacheron Constantin.

Chopard Happy Sport Medium Automatic Two Tone

Happy Sport is probably Chopard’s most recognizable timepiece for women. It was first invented by Caroline Scheufele in 1993, and the essential concept remains the same today: a watch with free moving diamonds above the dial. This year’s Happy Sport Medium Automatic Two Tone is stylish and fancy with a fine combination between diamonds and rose gold on a steel case. There are a total of seven diamonds wrapped in red gold, framed under the outer sapphire crystal. Aside from that, the automatic timepiece has a date display at 4.30, and the dial center sports an attractive guilloche pattern. It also doesn’t hurt that the strap comes in two attractive variations.

Gucci Horsebit

If you’re after iconic designs that will last for a long time, Florentine-based Gucci is a brand to reckon. Its sartorial inspirations of the past often reincarnate in the horology department. Taking cues from the equestrian pastimes of Florentine high society, the horsebit shape first broke to the surface in the 1950s and continually evolved through the decades. This year it is reinvented in many styles, and the most glamorous of which is this version with the bejeweled bezel. The mother-of-pearl dial looks very appealing with three diamond indexes at 3, 6 and 9 o’clock. Instead of bracelet, the steel bangle effortlessly fits the wrist and matches simple-cut dresses. A total of 92 diamonds adorn the uniquely shaped bezel.

Longines Elegant

Despite the ever-changing trends in the watch industry, there are simple design DNAs that have proven relevant through many decades. Longines, being one of the oldest Swiss companies, knows this all too well. The new Elegant collection is quintessentially elegant with a classic steel bracelet and round case. Diamonds as hour markers and embellishment on the bezel add a plus point to the alluring visual presentation. The date window at 3 o’clock takes on a rectangular shape against the white mother-of-pearl dial. Even the hands are made aesthetically simple, with the seconds hand in a different shade from the hour and the minute hands. Such an elegant timepiece would effortlessly suit you day and night.
