What We Love Today: Breitling’s Top Time Deus Limited Edition

Co-designed with Deus Ex Machina, the Top Time Deus chronograph is a nod to Breitling’s original 1960s edition and a true tribute to the nomad spirit

Breitling has just unveiled its latest partnership with Australian lifestyle brand Deus Ex Machina. As part of this new collaboration, the Swiss watch brand released a new limited edition watch, titled Top Time Deus Limited Edition. “Bikers, boarders, surfers, digital nomads … this is a timepiece for dynamic people of action, purpose, and style,” explained Breitling’s CEO, Georges Kern.

The Top Time Deus chronograph is a nod to Breitling’s original 1960s edition and also a true tribute to the nomad spirit. In particular, the first Top Time had a clear mission from the very beginning: Suiting the needs of “young and active professionals” with a range of “ultra-modern” chronographs.

On that note, the retro vibe of today’s edition has an enduring appeal. Not only does the new watch sport a racing-themed calfskin leather strap, but it also features the iconic Deus artwork of a retro-looking motorcyclist in full flight—designed by Deus creative director Carby Tuckwell—on the back of its 41mm stainless-steel case.

Meanwhile, upfront, the watch’s silver dial displays yellow and orange details, squircle-shaped chronograph counters, and the famous Deus logo as well as its adage “In benzin veritas,” which offsets in white on its black tachymeter scale. However, its highlight is arguably the chronograph hand, which this time comes in the shape of a lightning bolt

Driven by the Breitling Caliber 23, a COSC-certified chronometer with a power reserve of approximately 48 hours, only 1,500 pieces are available. Overall, with its boldness yet classy at the same time, the watch is ideal for those who live and love an adventurous life.
