As a part of the Watches & Wonders ecosystem, a global concept that encompasses the original Geneva fair (previously called SIHH), Shanghai’s Watches & Wonders will observe strict health and safety measures.
As previously reported, the worldwide COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of this year’s Watches & Wonders Geneva. However, on April 25, a breakthrough digital platform has been launched worldwide through watchesandwonders.com by The Fondation de la Haute Horlogerie (FHH) as an immediate online adaptation of the historic trade fair.
Recently, the FHH announced that Watches & Wonders will be coming to Shanghai for the very first time. Presenting a unique opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in Watchmaking Excellence and also be first to view the brands’ new releases for 2020, this event will be held September 9 to 13, 2020, at the West Bund Art Center. More importantly, there are only eleven brands will exhibit in Shanghai.
Just like its predecessor, this invitation-only and exclusive event is a place where media, retailers and clients can experience the fabulous world of fine watchmaking and also be first to see the latest creations from the eleven exhibiting brands. It carries on from the aforementioned online Watches & Wonders platform.
Moreover, the participating brands will welcome visitors inside two halls at the heart of West Bund Art Center. The Auditorium will host product launches, talks and panels on a variety of topics such as the return of the pilot’s watch or the vintage watch trend. The LAB, a showcase for innovation, will present selected projects and technologies from the exhibiting brands. There’s a workshop that will introduce visitors to the secrets of a mechanical watch movement and last but not least, the Métiers gallery that will host workbench demonstrations of rare skills by master artisans and watchmakers.
