The snowboarding apparel brand and the famous magazine join forces to create something for nature-loving sneakerheads.
National Geographic is widely known for its explorations and in-depth stories from numerous fields including science, photography, environmental concerns, history and even space. And now Vans has teamed up with the magazine and television network to explore a five-shoe collaboration.
The footwear collection consists of staple Vans silhouettes such as the Authenthic, Era, Old Skool, Sk8-Hi and Slip-On. Each of these models is decorated with unique imagery. For example, the Era is covered in a collage of National Geographic magazine covers, the Slip-On depicts Greenland’s Pine Island Glacier and the Authentic is covered with the image of a school of fish.
The Old Skool model, meanwhile, showcases the Mexican gray wolf alongside the red-eyed tree frog. The Sk8-Hi takes on a more minimal approach and is embroidered with the National Geographic logo. The logo is found on all pairs of shoes except for the Era, while Vans’ signature license plate on the heel now comes in black and yellow colorway.
