To mark the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7’s 50th anniversary, two distinctive TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche Limited Editions have been unveiled
The collaboration between TAG Heuer and Porsche continues with a fourth collaborative timepiece. This global partnership began in early 2021 and was marked by the launch of the TAG Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph. Around a year later, the TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche Limited Edition was unveiled, followed by the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 – Porsche Edition not too long ago.
And now, two new TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche Limited Editions have been introduced to mark the 50th anniversary of the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7.
“The Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 was the first 911 to be christened ‘Carrera’ and was the crowning glory of the Porsche range at this time,” says Detlev von Platen, Member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing at Porsche AG. “The anniversary of this sports car icon is the perfect occasion for us to launch a joint watch with our close partner TAG Heuer, with whom we share the same philosophy and love for exclusive products that combine innovation and heritage.”
This new release consists of two vibrant chronographs: the blue edition of the TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche RS 2.7 and an even more limited red version. Visually, the two watches follow the two-tone aesthetic of the Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7. The layout follows the tricompax layout of the 42-mm TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph. So, the minutes and hours chronograph counters are set at 3 and 9 o’clock, while a permanent second indicator and date window are placed at 6 o’clock.
Both editions are powered by the Calibre Heuer 02 automatic movement, which now features a custom oscillating mass shaped like Porsche’s three-spoke steering wheel. Naturally, this part is visible through the crystal caseback on both watches.
The blue TAG Heuer Carrera x Porsche RS 2.7 is a limited-edition model of 500 pieces. It comes in a polished steel case with a white opaline dial, on top of which there are rhodium-plated indexes, two subdials with an azurage finish along with blue-lacquered chronograph and central hands. Porsche fans will definitely catch a ton of references to the car manufacturer’s design code, such as how the right subdial hints at the rims of a Porsche’s wheels.
The red variant of this new chronograph, meanwhile, is limited to just 250 pieces. It comes in a 18K 5N rose gold case and features subtle touches of red throughout its design, from the chronograph hands to the markings on the subdials to the seconds scale on the flange. And while the blue version comes with both a stainless-steel bracelet and a fabric strap, the red version sports a red alligator leather strap with a rose gold pin buckle.
TAG Heuer has always been in tune with the world of cars and auto racing, and when the brand formally joined forces with Porsche, it elevated this merging of passions to a whole new level. Now, as 2022 comes to a close, TAG Heuer—and Porsche—has once again given fans of both worlds something to be excited about.
