Bold, focused and engineered for the road, the Pelagos FXD Chrono “Yellow” is more than a commemorative timepiece but a definite statement of intent. As much a technical instrument as it is a nod to Cancellara’s days in the coveted yellow jersey, this watch blends cycling-specific functionality with TUDOR’s uncompromising tool-watch identity. As can be expected, number 7, Cancellara’s racing number, is already spoken for. The rest will likely disappear into private collections before most fans can get a glimpse.
At first glance, the watch wears its purpose clearly. A 43mm matte black carbon composite case ensures maximum strength at minimal weight, crucial for cyclists looking to shave off every unnecessary gram. Fixed strap bars and a titanium screw-down crown underscore its toughness, while titanium pushers provide direct-action responsiveness. With 100 meters of water resistance, the FXD Chrono “Yellow” is more than capable of handling harsh conditions on and off the road.
But the real magic lies in its cycling-optimized functionality. Most chronographs are built for motorsport, with tachymeters calibrated for speeds far higher than human-powered travel. TUDOR has reengineered the scale specifically for cycling, wrapping it around the rehaut in a spiral configuration that matches real-world cadence, thus allowing riders to quickly gauge average speeds without the mental math.
